The suffix (tachitatiたちタチ) is one of the most common ways to indicate the plural form of a noun. It is primarily used for people and, to a lesser extent, other animate beings.

田中さんたちがもうすぐ着きます。

Restrictions: Inanimate Objects
A key rule is that (tachitatiたちタチ) is not used for inanimate objects. Japanese nouns do not have a mandatory singular or plural form, so the quantity of an object is usually understood from the context or specified with a number and counter.
Using (tachitatiたちタチ) with an object is incorrect:
Incorrect: (tsukuetachi ga heya ni arimasu。tsukuetati ga heya ni arimasu。つくえたち が へや に あります。ツクエタチ ガ ヘヤ ニ アリマス。)
Correct: (tsukue ga heya ni arimasu。tsukue ga heya ni arimasu。つくえ が へや に あります。ツクエ ガ ヘヤ ニ アリマス。) - The desk is / The desks are in the room.
To be explicit, you would use numbers:
机が三つ部屋にあります。
tsukue ga mittsu heya ni arimasu.tsukue ga mittsu heya ni arimasu.つくえ が みっつ へや に あります.ツクエ ガ ミッツ ヘヤ ニ アリマス.
There are three desks in the room.
