Prepositions

Persian prepositions fall into two groups, and the difference between them matters as soon as you want to attach a pronoun.

01

The Simple Ones

These four take their noun directly, with nothing in between.

  • (bebeb) - to, for
  • (az) - from, of, than
  • (bâbâba) - with

  • ⁧با سَگَش قَدَم می‌زَنَد.⁩

02

The Noun-Like Ones

The rest are really nouns, and they link to what follows with an ezafe - the same ⁧ـِ⁩ (-e) that joins any noun to any other.

  • (zir-ezir-ezyr) - under

03
