The suffix (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na) is an exclamatory ending used to express sudden realization, surprise, or discovery. It corresponds to English expressions like "I see," "Aha," "So that's how it is," or "It turns out that..."
This ending indicates that the speaker has just perceived a new fact or is reacting to information they just heard. It is often used in monologues (talking to oneself) but is also common in conversation to show engagement.
01
Action Verbs
When using action verbs in the present tense, you must attach (nŭnneunnŭnnun) to the verb stem before adding (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na). This distinguishes verbs from adjectives.
- Verb Stem + (nŭn·gu·naneun·gu·nanŭn·gu·nanun·ku·na)

02
Adjectives (Descriptive Verbs)
For adjectives, you attach (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na) directly to the stem. Do not add (nŭnneunnŭnnun). This is a key difference between verbs and adjectives in this grammar pattern.
- Adjective Stem + (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na)

03
Nouns
When attaching this ending to a noun, use ((i)gu·na). If the noun ends in a consonant, use (i·gu·nai·gu·nai·gu·nai·ku·na). If it ends in a vowel, use (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na).
- Noun (Consonant) + (i·gu·nai·gu·nai·gu·nai·ku·na)
- Noun (Vowel) + (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na)

04
Past Tense
To express realization about a past event, use the past tense marker (ŏteotŏtet), (at), or (yŏtyeotyŏtyet) followed by (gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na). In the past tense, both verbs and adjectives follow the same pattern; you do not use (nŭnneunnŭnnun).

05
Existence (Itda/Eopda)
The words (it·dait·dait·dait·ta) (to have/exist) and (ŏp·daeop·daŏp·daep·ta) (to not have/exist) function like action verbs with this pattern. You must use (nŭn·gu·naneun·gu·nanŭn·gu·nanun·ku·na).

06
Level of Politeness
(gu·nagu·nagu·naku·na) is technically a "Plain Form" ( (pan·malban·malpan·malpan·mal)) ending. It is used when talking to oneself, to close friends, or to people younger than you. If you want to express the same realization politely to a stranger or someone older, you should use (gun·yogun·yogun·yokun·yo) instead.
