New, Old, Bad: -taaq, -koq, -kasik

Three suffixes add a description to a noun: -taaq "new", -koq "old, worn-out, former" and -kasik "bad, wretched". "house" gives "ruined house". With "my" they become -taara and -kora; -kasima is "my" when the word is the doer of a verb that has an object (the -p form).

  • Takuuk, illutaara.

Look, this is my new house. (illu + -taa- + -ra "my")

  • Aana initaara.

    This is my new apartment.

  • Ukioq kingulleq suliffittaanni sulilerpunga.

Last year, I started a new job. (suliffik + -ttaa- + -nni "in my")

  • Nalunaaqutakora ukiut qulit pigaara.

I had my old watch for ten years. (nalunaaqutaq + -ko- + -ra "my")
