The world is full of languages and dialects spoken and written by people of different cultures and backgrounds leading to a multitude of different possible ways of expressing oneself and one’s own view of the world.

The Book

Lingora is a series of books designed to capture this diversity of the world’s languages and to allow learners to delve deeply into their structure, grammar, and vocabulary. Its goal is to cover a large number of diverse languages, some of which are often underrepresented in educational materials, while maintaining constant similarly high quality.

Each book in the Lingora series covers one language, dialect, or language variant, and one specific language level (following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or CEFR). With 500 relevant and increasingly difficult sentences or short dialogues from everyday life, the learner is slowly introduced to the grammar and vocabulary of the new language.

The vocabulary used, and the topics covered follow the CEFR recommendations, always contrasting a wide variety of useful grammar topics, so that the learner can one-by-one learn how to use the language in a variety of different real-life scenarios.

In addition to the original sentences and the translations into English, each foreign language sentence is supplemented by transcriptions into the Latin alphabet where relevant, as well as a word-by-word translation (also called glossing) in which all words, as well as their non-translatable grammatical properties, are explained.

The App

The official Lingora companion app contains all the audio recordings for all the sentences of all Lingora publications.

It also aims to make use of this data in the best way possible: By offering to create your own unique learning experience and designing your own exercises. With a number of helpful templates, you will learn how to create your own learning exercise, including audio playback in English, the foreign language – in fast or slow, pauses, button presses, and more.

For every language a quick audio-based overview of the pronunciation, the script, and the tones (where used) is given.
